The Melbourne-bound lanes of the Princes Freeway are closed between the Princes Highway and Duncans Road, Werribee following a collision.

There are significant delays building on the freeway approaching the Werribee exit, and along the Princes Highway into Werribee.

Motorists planning travel on the Princes Freeway between Geelong and Melbourne should consider detouring via Geelong-Bacchus Marsh Road and the Western Freeway instead.

Drivers are asked to be mindful of local traffic when detouring through Werribee and to obey all local speed limits.

This incident and road closure is under the control of Victoria Police.

The freeway will only re-open when investigations are complete and it’s safe to do so.

The VicRoads signals team is monitoring conditions in the area and will adjust traffic lights to minimise congestion along detour routes.
