Posties make their way to Werribee South

In good news for Werribee South residents, Australia Post has extended its parcel delivery service to 800 homes in the area.

In July, Star Weekly reported that people living in Werribee South were missing out on large letters and package delivery to their doors.

Werribee South Ratepayers Association vice-president Marisa Berton said residents had to pick up packages from the post office in Lentini Street, Hoppers Crossing – a 16 kilometre trip for some people.

But last week, an Australia Post spokesman said the organisation was “proud to confirm an extension to our parcel delivery service for 800 homes in Werribee South”.

According to Wyndham council, there are 968 dwellings in Werribee South.

The Australia Post spokesman said residents living within the Wyndham Harbour area – bordered by Beach and Duncans roads, west of O’Connors Road and east of Rivercoast Road – would have parcels delivered to their doors from Monday this week.

“We’re thrilled to be able to extend our service to the residents of Werribee South, especially as we come into the Christmas period,” the spokesman said.

The spokesman said customers could still have parcels delivered to lockers at Pacific Werribee and Hoppers Crossing, or from the Werribee Post Office.
