Post Office staff deliver

Werribee Post Office has been crowned the top post office in the nation.

The Watton Street post office shop was last week announced as Post Office of the Year at Australia Post’s annual Isaac Awards, which celebrates teams and individuals across the mail network for outstanding customer service and community spirit.

Werribee Post Office took home the Gold Isaac award, named in honour of the nation’s first Postmaster General Isaac Nichols.

The accolade is recognition of the Werribee shop’s unwavering support its staff provided to the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Werribee Post Office manager Danny Marando said he could not be prouder of his team and how they supported each other and local residents last year.

“2020 wasn’t easy, but the way the team pulled together and went above and beyond for each and every customer that walked through our door was incredible,” he said.

Australia Post executive general manager community and consumer, Nicole Sheffield, said she was proud of Werribee Post Office.

“The post office is a vital part of every community, especially in Werribee, and particularly so in the last year which has been full of challenges, so it’s wonderful to be able to acknowledge the team for everything that they do,” Ms Sheffield said.

“Not only is the team dedicated to supporting their customers and the local community, they were the lifeline for people working from home during 2020, providing access to printers, pens and paper clips, as well as helping local businesses and online shoppers in one of the busiest growth areas for e-commerce in Australia.

“Their professionalism, customer focus and the way they live our values every day is something to be admired.”
