Pop into park

Famous Australian music icons will play in Werribee’s city centre, when Wyndham council’s free Pop Up Park returns to Station Place next year.
Apart from live music, the summer event will feature an outdoor cinema, markets and community workshops from to January 10 to February 2 next year.
The Pop Up Park’s all-ages Friday Night Live concert series will include Pete Murray as the opening act on January 10, with subsequent shows to star the Eurogliders with Brian Mannix and Scott Carne; Joe Camilleri and The Black Sorrows; and ARC, featuring Kram (Spiderbait), Mark Wilson (Jet), Darren Middleton (Powderfinger) and Davey Lane (You Am I).
Wyndham’s portfolio holder for tourism and major events, Cr John Gibbons, said more than 30,000 people attended the Pop Up Park last year.
“Events like this support the vibrancy of our city, providing great family entertainment, supporting local businesses and artists,” Cr Gibbons said.
“We’re thrilled to be hosting musicians of this calibre in our city centre as well supporting Wyndham artists, with each concert featuring local acts including Michelle Gardiner, The Mixx and Lewis Pidutti.”
The outdoor cinema will return on Saturday nights with new release family flicks including Aladdin, Dumbo and Toy Story 4, as well as free movie inspired kids craft.
On weekdays, the Pop Up Park will be buzzing with free community workshops and come-and-try sessions.
“Kids will be able to enjoy free Hey Dee Ho music classes, robotics, hip hop and rhyme time,” Cr Gibbons said.
“There’s also a great range of program for teens with dance workshops, AFL football and soccer clinics and sausage sizzles.”
