Pool scam warning

Wyndham residents have been warned to be on the look out for scammers after a recent spate of fake text messages being sent throughout the community.

Wyndham council said it had been notified that some residents had received fake text messages regarding pool fencing.

The text messages have been sent by scammers claiming to be council officers trying to organise pool fence inspections or requesting fees be paid.

A spokesperson for Wyndham council said any text messages on the topic were a scam.

“Council does not send text messages regarding pool inspections or text messages requesting fees to be paid,” the spokesperson said.

“Council sends all correspondence regarding pool fencing in letter form and only by mail.”

Anyone receiving one of the suspect text messages is advised to not reply and not provide any personal information.
