A man has been found dead in suspicious circumstances in a housing estate in Tarneit.
Police were called to a home in Chantelle Parade about 9.30am on Tuesday.
It is not yet known how the man died, but police are treating his death as suspicious.
No one has been arrested in relation to the incident.
Jack Groves, a construction worker who had been working at a site on Chantelle Parade since early in the morning, said he started to see ambulances arrive about 8am, followed by fire trucks and police cars.
He said police escorted one man out of the house.
“They pulled old mate out, without his shoes,” he said.
He said the man sat in the back of a police vehicle, without handcuffs and rolling the occasional cigarette, before being driven away.
A white ute, registered with VicRoads as a stolen vehicle, was parked outside the house.
Mr Groves said detectives carried about three or four zip-locked bags that appeared to contain white powder out of the house.
Another resident on the street, who did not want to be named, said she believed the residents of the house moved into the property this year. They were regularly visited by police, she said.
The quiet street contains mostly new homes. About a dozen police, including forensics officers, remained at the scene on Tuesday afternoon.
