Police seeking assistance to identify man

Police require public assistance to identify a man after a teenage girl was allegedly sexually assaulted on a bus in Hoppers Crossing last month.

Police have been told a man and a girl boarded a bus separately at Hoppers Crossing Railway Station about 7.15pm on Sunday, September 11.

Police say the man sat down next to the 15-year-old girl and allegedly sexually assaulted her, before she disembarked the bus on Westmill Drive in Hoppers Crossing and notified emergency services.

Investigators have released CCTV images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The man is perceived to be Middle Eastern in appearance, approximately 18-25 years of age with short dark hair, thin moustache and thin build.

He was wearing a face mask and a dark coloured zip up jacket with a white t-shirt, light grey jeans, dark runners and carrying a black backpack and a plastic supermarket bag.

Any witnesses or anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
