Police officers allegedly punched, spat on in Point Cook

A man has been arrested after allegedly punching a police officer in Point Cook early this morning.

The incident unfolded after officers attempted to intercept a Holden sedan seen performing burnouts out the front of Corio Police station about 3.45am.

The driver fled and then crashed the car in Saltwater Promenade, Point Cook about 5.20am.

Police said that while ambulance officers were treating a 20 year-old, he became aggressive and allegedly punched a constable and spat in a sergeant’s eye.

A Point Cook man was arrested at the scene and is assisting police with their inquiries.
