Police investigating fatal crash in Laverton North

Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision in Laverton North.

Emergency services responded to reports of a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Dohertys and Fitzgerald roads about 10.10pm on Thursday, February 13.

Police believe there was a collison between black Ford Ranger, which was being driven eastbound on Fitzgerald Road, and a silver Mitsubishi , which was traveling south on Dohertys Road.

There was then a collision between the Ford and a grey Volkswagen. Police said the Ford also hit a traffic signal pole.

A rear passenger from the Ford, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

A front seat passenger from the Ford was uninjured.

The driver of the Ford was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The drivers, and sole occupants, of both the Mitsubishi and the Volkswagen were uninjured.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision remains ongoing, and police are interested in speaking with anyone who witnessed the crash or had dashcam footage.
