Police investigate Werribee armed robbery

Police are on the hunt for up to eight youths who stole smokes and cash in an armed robbery at a Werribee convenience store last night.

Investigators have been told that the youths – two of whom were armed with knives – entered the Derwent Road store about 7.30pm.

The robbers jumped over a front counter and stole cigarettes and cash and also vandalised the store, pulling items from shelves and smashing windows.

Three people who were in the shop at the time of the robbery were not injured.

The robbers were all wearing dark clothing with bandannas or balaclavas on their faces.

Anyone with information is being asked urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
