Police have charged a man following a pursuit and the ramming of a police vehicle in Williams Landing on the weekend.
The incident occurred when police attempted to speak to the driver of a car, which was parked in a Williams Landing carpark, just after 3am on Sunday.
As officers approached the car, the driver allegedly reversed his vehicle into the police car, causing one of the police officers to take evasive action to avoid being struck.
A pursuit commenced with the offending vehicle allegedly driven at excessive speeds on Little Boundary Road, the Western Ring Road and against on-coming traffic on the Princes Freeway.
The pursuit concluded in Unicorn Court in Truganina, where the occupants of the vehicle fled the scene but were arrested shortly afterwards.
An 18-year-old Frankston man has been charged with armed robbery relating to an incident at Point Cook on April 2, aggravated and intentional exposure of police officer to risk by driving, damage to an emergency vehicle by reckless driving, dangerous driving while being pursued by police and reckless conducted endangering life.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court for a filing hearing today.
Both the driver and his 24-year-old Braybrook male passenger were also found to be in breach of directions issued by the Chief Health Officer and were issued a $1652 penalty notice.
The investigation is ongoing in relation to the other passenger who fled the vehicle.
