Police are appealing for witnesses to an alleged attempted murder in Wyndham Vale last year.

Four people attended a Ribblesdale Avenue, Wyndham Vale, property about 2.20am on Thursday, July 8, 2021.

Police believe a fifth person remained in a vehicle outside the address.

The four people forced their way into the property via a rear door and seriously assaulted a 45-year-old male occupant, police said.

According to police, the man sustained serious and significant upper body injuries including a gunshot and multiple stab wounds and was taken to hospital.

Three adults and five children were home at the time of the incident, however the 45-year-old man was the only one physically injured.

On July 17, 2021 police recovered a stolen 2015 black Toyota Kluger, which had been abandoned in MacPherson Street, Footscray.

The vehicle had been stolen during an unrelated burglary on June 30, however police believe it was the car used in the Wyndham Vale incident.

A 19-year-old Rockbank man was charged with attempted murder in relation to the incident in December 2021, and a 20-year-old St Albans man also charged with attempted murder on March 9.

Both men are currently remanded in custody.

On Thursday, police released a digital composite image of a man they believe was involved in the incident in the hopes of learning his identity.

They also released CCTV and images of the black Toyota Kluger in the hope someone can provide information about the movements of the car after it was stolen on June 30, 2021.
