Point Cook mother wins $170,000 for first home

A Wyndham resident has won $170,000 to put towards her first home.
Sophie Lemafa  – who shares a rental property in Point Cook with her parents, her partner and their two children – has won the ‘Rich parents you never had’ competition run by home builder Porter Davis.
The first prize is a $170,000 cheque to help with the cost of building a first home through the company.
Ms Lemafa, a teacher’s aide, said that winning the contest was “amazing”. She said she and her family had been dreaming of building a home for years, but without winning the competition they would have struggled to put together the required deposit.
She said she would like to use the prize money to build her family’s new house in the Point Cook area.
“It will impact us so greatly – our eldest daughter is 10, and to not have to take her away from her friends and to be able to plant our lives somewhere, we’re really grateful,” she said.
“We just wanted something solid for our kids and to keep my parents with us while they grow old.”  <
More than 15,000 Victorians from across 372 postcodes entered the ‘Rich parents’ competition.
The postcode with the most entries was 3030 postcode, which covers Point Cook, Quandong, Werribee, Werribee South and Derrimut.
