Point Cook man wins big

A Point Cook man is $150,000 richer after purchasing a winning scratchie from a newsagency in Laverton.

The $10 Jumbo Crosswords ticket was purchased from Laverton Authorised Newsagency on 12 Aviation Road.

The lucky winner said at first he didn’t realise how much money he actually had won.

“At first I thought it was a $1,000 win, then I thought it was $15,000, but as I was talking to my daughter and giving her the news, I said, Hang on, I think it’s actually $150,000,” he said.

“I burst into laughter when I realised it was actually $150,000. I’m going to share it with my family, maybe take a long holiday and upgrade the car.”

Newsagency owner Manoj Gupta was thrilled to sell the store’s first Instant Scratch-Its top prize win.

“This will send a buzz through the store and excite all of our customers,” he said.

“It’s our first big win, and we are so excited for the winner. We want to wish them good luck in the future and hope they enjoy their celebrations.”

In 2021, there were 157 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who together took home more than $10 million in top prizes.
