Police have arrested four people after an alleged Point Cook home invasion, in which offenders armed with a baseball bat and a hatchet allegedly smashed their way into a house.

Three men and a woman have been arrested following the alleged home invasion, which occurred yesterday morning.

The occupants of a Java Lane home rang police when they realised four people were attempting to break into their home, by a rear door, just before 10am.

Having no success at the back of the house, the burglars, allegedly armed with a baseball bat and a hatchet, smashed through the front door and entered the home.

When police arrived all four offenders ran out the back door.

A search was conducted in the local area with one offender being arrested nearby and the other three arrested a short time later.

The male and female occupants of the house were not injured and nothing was stolen during the burglary.

Police have arrested a 25-year-old Sunshine man, a 32-year-old Altona Meadows man, a 24-year-old Werribee woman and a 25-year-old Truganina man.

Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged the four with home invasion, theft of motor car and weapon offences.

The three men have also been charged with possess drug of dependence.

They are all expected to be remanded in custody to appear at court at a later date.
