People in the west who are fascinated by humankind’s reaction to climate change are encouraged to attend a play about fear, facts and forging on through an uncertain time of information.
Wyndham-based director Wolf Heidecker is raising awareness about humanity’s potential fate in the new Australian play Tipping Point 2029.
A dramatised comment on climate change, the play is based on a book by German futurist philosopher and environment scientist Werner Mittelstaedt who helped in providing the facts and figures.
The act unfolds as a live discussion in a European TV show which triggers worldwide panic.
Why? Because for the first time it was officially announced that the earth has reached the “Tipping Point”, the point of no return in the destruction of the environment.
Down under, an Australian free-to-air TV station wants to be the first in the southern hemisphere to tackle the topic, inviting internationally renowned personalities to calm the fears by informing the population about the facts and date– as opposed to spreading fear.
Faced with the proposition of act or die, many across the world are plunged into despair, apathy or confusion, someone must be tasked to steer the debate back to the realm of reason and galvanise people.
It is accomplished TV-Presenter Bettina Roland’s job to work out the most positive outlook into the future from the discussion she is leading.
The show will run from 19-22 November at The MC Showroom in Prahran.
Tipping Point 2029 is recommended for audiences aged 14 years and above.
