Sisters Ruby and Emily adore their shih tzu dog Isla.

The Point Cook siblings, aged six and 17, are among the many pet-owners looking forward to Wyndham council’s Pet and Animal Expo, to be held later this month.

Wyndham’s environment and sustainability portfolio holder, Cr Heather Marcus, said the free annual event helped residents learn about the best ways to care for their animal friends.

“Whether your pet is furry and four-legged, covered in feathers or more of the scaly variety, this event will have something to offer you,” Cr Marcus said.

The expo will feature children’s activities including a petting zoo, reptiles, native wildlife, birds of prey displays and dog agility demonstrations.

The expo will be held from 10am to 3pm on Sunday, September 15, at the Wyndham Civic Centre, 45 Princes Highway, Werribee.
