Don’t forget to register your pet.

Pet owners across Wyndham have only five days left to register or re-register their furry friends and to update their contact details if they have moved.

According to the Domestic Animals Act 1994, every dog and cat of three months and older must be registered with council by April 10 each year.

Pet owners are charged an annual registration fee of $154 for dogs under 10 who are microchipped but not desexed, or $50 for desexed dogs.

Cat owners are charged $111 if their cats are microchipped but not desexed, and $22 if desexed.

Registration is free until April 2018 for animals that are registered for the first time.

Joseph Savona has already got in early to re-register his beloved Pepper.

Wyndham council environment and sustainability portfolio holder Heather Marcus said registering pets helped council return cats or dogs home safely should they ever go missing.
