Patrons at fast food restaurant heckled, attacked

A gang of up to 40 youths are believed to have attacked cars and patrons at McDonalds in Tarneit overnight.

Victoria Police have confirmed that members attended a fast food restaurant on Derrimut Road about 9.30pm last night following reports of a group of males harassing members of the public.

“Officers have spoken to a number of people involved in the incident and the investigation is ongoing,” a police spokesperson said.

Steve, who claims to have witnessed the events, told 3AW there were up to 15 youths giving grief to the manager when he walked in last night.

He said after sitting down in the restaurant, the group grew to about 40.

“They started attacking cars, externally to the fast food chain and then started attacking patrons and coming into the store,” he said.

He said they later began throwing things at and kicking cars.

The manager of McDonalds Tarneit declined to comment.
