Parks get new lease on life

Four parks in Tarneit will undergo upgrades totalling $1.65 million in the coming months.

The parks in Moondara Street, Camelot Drive, Samaria Street and Tarneit Lakes will have fitness equipment stations installed, along with renewed play spaces, new nature play areas and seating.

More trees will be planted to increase canopy cover.

Wyndham council will contribute $600,000 to the project and the state government $465,000.

The project is being delivered in partnership with the Tarneit Suburban Revitalisation Board which is chaired by Tarneit MP Sarah Connolly.

The board provides advice to the state government on ways to renew Tarneit, delivering projects that will improve public space and amenity and support local jobs and businesses.

The Suburban Revitalisation program also works with regional and local stakeholders to help plan and deliver economic and social infrastructure and community development.

It recently began supporting new projects in six activity centres in metropolitan Melbourne, in the areas of Tarneit, Melton, Reservoir, Boronia, Noble Park and Lilydale.

Ms Connolly said the Tarneit park upgrades “will help to beautify the community and provide a space for people to come together”.

Minister for Suburban Development, Shaun Leane, said: “This is part of our Suburban Revitalisation boost in Tarneit, supporting projects that matter most to locals.”
