Five Wyndham parks have received a series of improvements, with Wyndham council announcing further upgrades to come.
Wyndham council said it is making great progress on its $1.65 million Parks Asset Renewal Program, an annual program that transforms ageing parks into new and improved spaces that better meet the community’s needs.
New playgrounds have been installed at Burgundy Drive Reserve in Wyndham Vale,Nangiloc Crescent Reserve in Werribee and Featherbrook Kindergarten in Point Cook.
Additional playground elements and nature play have been included at Tarneit’s Bruny Drive Reserve, and a new playground and bike track can now be found at Bowery Court Reserve in Werribee.
Work is also currently underway on playground upgrades at Aitken Avenue Reserve in Hoppers Crossing and at Iramoo, Vista Way and Alamanda kindergartens, with construction on all four projects expected to be complete in coming weeks.
New playground equipment will be installed at Werribee’s Conquest Drive Reserve in March, while Wyndham council is also currently engaging with the community on the design of an upgrade at Aquarius Drive Park in Truganina.
Wyndham’s active city portfolio holder Councillor Peter Maynard, said the upgrades were tailored to each park to make them more accessible, safer, comfortable and welcoming to everyone.
“We know our parks and open spaces play an important role in getting Wyndham families out of the house, enjoying nature and being active,” Cr Maynard said.
“The reserves selected for upgrades in this year’s program were constructed a number of years ago and needed a spruce up to improve the condition, accessibility and functionality for the community.
“These important works will breathe new life into 11 of our local parks, creating beautiful open spaces that the whole family can enjoy, close to home.”
