Park becomes a play haven

The fun factor has been boosted at a Hoppers Crossing park, thanks to new playground equipment.

Wyndham council has installed a slide, a timber swing set, a “row boat” seesaw, a timber climbing frame and monkey bars at Snowgum Court Park.

Council family friendly city portfolio holder Mia Shaw (pictured with son Gus), said rubber surfacing had been used so children who fell would not hurt themselves.

“Studies show that playgrounds with different features for little ones to play on – like this one at Hoppers Crossing – are important in the cognitive, physical, social and emotional development of children,” she said.

Cr Shaw said that when the council conducted community consultations in 2015 to plan for the city’s long-term future, many residents had identified parks and open spaces as one of Wyndham’s most important features.

“Community members talked about having these places to unwind after a long day and recalled many fond memories with family and friends,” Cr Shaw said.
