Pacific Werribee’s $400 million redevelopment is paying off, with the shopping centre reporting a 15 per cent growth in sales over the past 12 months.
Figures released by Pacific Centres show Pacific Werribee brought in $435 million over the 2015 calendar year.
Shoppers spent $65 million in December alone, with more than 60,000 people walking through the centre’s doors on its busiest day in the lead-up to Christmas.
Pacific Centres’ chief executive, Graham Terry, said last year’s opening of the Urban Diner precinct and the new retail section had helped foot traffic grow 20 per cent each month since September last year.
On average, more than 200,000 people are shopping at Pacific Werribee each week.
Mr Terry said the Pacific Werribee redevelopment had provided unprecedented access to big brands that were previously only accessible at Geelong or in Melbourne’s CBD.
He said Pacific Werribee’s performance could be attributed to the new retail mix that catered to the needs of new and established residents.
Pacific Werribee will announce another round of store openings next month, but it would not reveal the new retail outlets when asked by Star Weekly last week.
