Open date set for new school

A new primary school will open in Truganina in 2026 the state government announced on Wednesday.

Tarneit Plains Primary School (interim name) in Truganina will accommodate 575 students, with 50

places reserved for students with disability.

Acting Premier and Education Minister Ben Carroll announced that construction will soon begin at Tarneit Plains and four other future primary schools in Melton, Wallan, Geelong and Wodonga.

“We’re proud to be giving students and their hard-working families in growing communities across our state the world-class schools they deserve, close to home,” he said.

“These new schools will give children and teachers the modern facilities to set them up for success – and give families of children with additional needs a choice about their education.”

The builds come from a $280 million investment that will eventually support more than 2,800 students.

Tenders to build the new schools will open early this year and construction is expected to begin from the middle of 2024.

Several new schools are set to open in Wyndham for term one this year – Wimba Primary School and Brinbeal Secondary College in Tarneit, Warreen Primary School and Bemin Secondary College in Truganina, Nganboo Borron School and Walcom Ngarrwa Secondary College in Werribee and Laa Yulta Primary School in Mambourin.
