One dead, freeway closed after horror crash in Point Cook

One person has been killed and a number of others seriously injured following a crash in Point Cook this afternoon.

Traffic is at a standstill on the Princes Freeway outbound with all lanes closed, after a collision involving a truck and a number of other cars at Palmers Road about 2.45pm.

Traffic diversions are in place.

One driver, yet to be identified, is dead, while the passenger from the same vehicle is currently trapped and believed to have sustained life-threatening injuries.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and the investigation is ongoing.
