Nivedya has been named Wyndham’s Young Person of the Month for February.
Nivedya, 16, is passionate about making a change in society through poetry and creative writing.
She champions equality and encourages young people to feel empowered and live their best life.
Nivedya is an active member of her school leadership team and was awarded the Long Tan award this year for her exceptional leadership at school.
She has represented her school at parliament on two separate occasions, endeavouring to give a voice to young women.
She considers herself a voracious debater and has been competing in debating and public speaking competitions for several years.
Nivedya has contributed to the school community consistently winning leadership awards and assisting with various events at school.
Her talents extend into the arts as well, being an aspiring Bharatanatyam dancer and has been training in this classical dance form for more than six years.
She showcases classical dance and builds awareness of all cultures to build inclusivity.
Creative writing is Nivedya’s passion and she makes a positive impact through her creative writing skills, contributing to a society that empowers women.
Nivedya also took home first place in the Wyndham Libraries Imagination Creation writing competition.
One Wyndham recipients are residents aged between 12 to 25 who positively contribute to the community and are role models to other young people.
Each month Council selects winner and awards them a $300 gift voucher of their choice and other prizes.
