Kids in Wyndham will have the chance to try their hand at some hands-on art making this month with the National Gallery of Victoria’s (NGV) Kids on Tour program.
Held at local libraries, the activities are designed to make art accessible to children and allow them to explore their imagination in a familiar environment.
Making hats, drawing their own cake designs, and a series of party games are a few of the ways the city’s youngest minds will have a shot at putting their talents to use.
The present world won’t be the only source of inspiration and platform for expression throughout the program.
Perfume in the 1700s – inspired by the trend of perfume in the 1700s– will allow participants to draw their own perfume bottle, using their favourite imagery from nature, fantasy, street art, or pop culture to express their imagination and personal style.
The works of artist Olaf Breuning will be the source of several workshops running as part of the program, including a look at the charm of forests and nature.
An interesting segment of the program will be The What’s New? feature.
In this segment, children are invited to have a conversation with an adult about how everyday life has changed over the years.
Together, they can share stories, compare the past and present, and draw pictures that show what they’ve learned from their conversation.
Kids on Tour will be held at Williams Landing Library Lounge on 19 January, Manor Lakes Library on 15 and 21 January, Tarneit Library on 15 and 22 January, and Hoppers Crossing Library on 15 January.
