Evening train commuters will get another 35 off-peak Werribee line services when a new timetable comes into effect later this year.
The state government has announced it would add seven new metropolitan train services across the network each weekday, which will run before and after the evening peak and create room for an extra 1000 passengers on each service. Bus connections to the trains will be maintained under the new timetable.
Werribee MP Tim Pallas said the new timetable would help make public transport a more convenient and attractive transport option.
