Pedestrians at Hoppers Crossing station will soon be able to access an overpass connecting them from the platform to local shops and Federation trail.
The new overpass will be accessible from Old Geelong Road and Princes Highway.
Crews began working Friday night and are expected to finish Wednesday, February 23.
Buses will replace trains during construction and passengers can catch replacement transportation from the Hoppers Crossing bus interchange on Old Geelong Road.
“We thank passengers for the understanding while buses replace trains so crews can safely continue work in this area, including removing the level crossing boom gate and bells, and creating safer connections over the rail created by the new overpass,” Tarneit MP Sarah Connolly said.
Hoppers Crossing Station will reopen via the new overpass on Thursday February 24.
