New CEO for Wyndham

Stephen Wall has been appointed Wyndham council’s new chief executive.

Mr Wall comes to Wyndham from Maribyrnong council, where he served as chief executive for nearly seven years.

Mr Wall will begin his new role at Wyndham on Monday, August 9.

Former Wyndham council chief executive Kelly Grigsby resigned in March to take up a position with the city of Hobart.

Wyndham mayor Adele Hegedich said the municipality would benefit from Mr Wall’s experience working in the local government sector for more than 23 years.

“Mr Wall’s local government career has seen him hold the role of director and general manager of corporate services at Surf Coast Shire Council and Maribyrnong City Council and the office of chief executive officer also at Surf Coast Shire Council and Maribyrnong City Council,” Cr Hegedich said.

“His experience will allow him to hit the ground running and ensure we are well placed to continue the vital work underway at council, including delivery of the council plan, health and wellbeing plan and the long term financial plan.

“I know I speak for all councillors when I say Mr Wall will provide experience and strong leadership to our more than 1800 staff at council and be a tireless advocate for the needs of our 280,000 residents across Wyndham.”

Cr Hegedich said the council would also like to thank Natalie Walker, who filled in as Wyndham’s acting chief executive after the departure of Ms Grigsby.

“Natalie has provided strong support to myself as mayor and to all councillors to ensure we maintain the pace of work here at Wyndham and continue on seamlessly with our program of work on behalf of the community, said Cr Hegedich.

Mr Wall said that he thrilled to be appointed as Wyndham’s new chief executive.

“I’ve watched the work of Wyndham for many years now and I’m looking forward to joining the organisation and working with the council to serve the needs of the Wyndham community,” he said.

“I chose many years ago to commit to working in the local government sector as I firmly believe it to be the level of government that has the most direct impact on the lives of residents.

“I will bring energy and enthusiasm to working at Wyndham and can’t wait to roll my sleeves up and start working with councillors on the exciting and challenging agenda for the city.”
