It’s time to net, set go!
The Hoppers Crossing Junior Netball Association is honing the skills of the next generation of netball players with its NetSetGo program, offering basic skills training for children aged five to 10.
Association president Darren Hellmann said the program gave young kids their first taste of the popular sport with the aim of graduating into junior development. “It gives them an initial interest in netball,” he said.
The association, which began with four under-10 teams more than 40 years ago, has grown to include more than 350 children and adults playing in 40 teams.
Former association player Laura Giles represented Australia at under-21 level at last year’s World Cup in South Africa. Giles started her netball career in the Hoppers Crossing Junior Netball Association’s under-11 team.
The NetSetGo program runs on Saturday mornings at Mossfiel Reserve.
