Forget about a bump in the night – Manor Lakes residents have been reporting a loud bang this afternoon.
Residents of the area have been calling radio station 3AW, reporting a “mystery bang”.
Facebook community groups have also been filled with reports of a loud noise – which reportedly caused windows of some houses to shake – about 1.30pm.
A spokesman for Mountain View Quarries on Ballan Road solved the mystery – the quarry had a blast scheduled for that time, which caused the noise.

The spokesman said the quarry usually had one or two blasts per week, but the noise of today’s blast carried particularly far because of the overcast weather.
