My Place: Shane

What do you like about where you live?

I love how I live close by to four different shopping centres. It gives me and my family freedom of what kind of grocery/mini day out we want. Point Cook Town Centre for an outdoor shopping experience, Pacific Werribee if we feel like visiting more of the bigger brands, Wyndham Village Shopping Centre for a quick errand run – has all the necessities and Williams Landing Shopping Centre if we feel supporting more local businesses that are constantly coming.

What, if anything, would you change about where you live?

Perhaps more recreational parks. Although my area is still relatively new, I am seeing a positive step with the upcoming completed builds. I think my suburb has its own characteristics that sets it apart from neighbouring suburbs, therefore I would not change anything in regards to where I live but to have an increase in public transportation to newly built houses and schools.

Where is your favourite local place to spend time?

I have a lot of places that I often love visiting, such as pet stores to have a peek at their new dog toy collection and treats, or new local restaurants to taste different types of foods. If I had to name a local place, it would be going to @7Grams cafe at Wyndham Village Shopping Centre with my mum.

Tell us something people would be surprised to know about you

I love to play Volleyball and will continue a match even if badly injured. Other than that, I am a perfectionist and a foodie!

What does it meant you to be Wyndham’s young person of the month?

To be Wyndham’s young person of the month is an honour, especially to those who decided to invest their time in me in order for me to be successful in life today and also receiving countless of recognitions and awards that I thought I would never get. Even to be considered as a F.I.R.E Carrier for the Aboriginal People is such a sacred and touching moment for me. Being Wyndham’s young person of March is amazing in itself but I would also like to take the moment to thank everyone who has helped me in my journey.
