Motorcyclist killed in Werribee South

A man in his 40s has died after his Harley Davidson motorcycle ran off the road and crashed in Werribee South overnight, just hours after another motorcyclist was seriously injured in Tarneit.

Police understand the rider lost control while travelling along Beach Road about 10.15pm.

No other vehicles or people are believed to have been involved in the incident.

It was the second motorcycle accident police from Westgate Highway Patrol attended last night.

Earlier, an unlicensed motorcyclist on a different Harley Davidson had collided into a car on Tarneit Road in Tarneit.

The rider was taken to hospital with significant injuries.

Assistant Commissioner for Road Policing Command Doug Fryer said five motorcyclists had been killed on Victorian roads this month.

He called on road users, particularly motorcyclists, to exercise caution.

Police want to speak with anyone who witnessed either collision and are urging witnesses to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
