A mother and son have been named as the Hawks Fastpitch Softball Club’s senior and junior club person of the year.
Club president Jason Kriehn said Deb Robinson and her son Jye took home the accolades at a presentation night on Saturday.
Jye, 16, also received the best and fairest award for both the under-18 and Gold Men’s sides.
He also received a 10-year membership award.
Jye has played for state and national teams, umpired, coached and served on the club’s committee.
Deb has also served on the committee and as a junior coach.
Noah Cooney received numerous awards including inaugural most valuable player, runner-up best and fairest for the under-18s (along with Jaxon Holliday) and players’ player in the Gold Men’d awards.
Other award winners included Kriehn, Bart Wadley, Loryn Batrich, Debbie Lee, Sophie Mairos, Bailea Robinson, Luisa Ballestrino, Hollie Micallef, Cory McAuliffe, Karl Kriehn, Adam McKinley, Sarah Alderson, Lucy Philpot and Loryn Andersen.
Kriehn said more than 100 people attended the Hawks presentation night at the Werribee RSL.
Kriehn, who is also a senior men’s coach and player, said seeing the juniors and senior players in the one room was “fantastic”.
The Hawks play in the Werribee Softball Association and are celebrating their 41st anniversary this year.
Kriehn said the presentation night saw several members awarded 10 year, 20 year and life memberships of the club.
“Hopefully next year will be even bigger and better,” he said.
