Mosque opens doors

The Virgin Mary Mosque in Hoppers Crossing will open its doors to the public at the weekend to welcome Wyndham residents inside.

The mosque is inviting families and individuals to visit as part of the Victorian Mosque Open Day initiative.

The Islamic Council of Victoria (ICV) helps to organise at mosques across the state each year, in an effort to develop a friendly, neighbourly and cohesive community environment.

The open day will provide people with an opportunity to experience firsthand the Hoppers Crossing mosque’s religious and cultural practices and ask questions of its members.

The Virgin Mary Mosque will also host a barbecue and information stalls about faith and traditions.

Visitors will be able to enjoy a tour around the mosque, showcasing some of the initiatives it has been running and how it has been contributing to the development of the community.

There will be food, children’s activities and cultural performances.

Everyone is welcome to attend the open day, which will be held on Sunday, March 14 from 10am to 4pm.

The Virgin Mary Mosque is located at 143 Hogans Road, Hoppers Crossing.
