More than 960 new COVID cases in Wyndham

A total of 966 new COVID-19 cases have been diagnosed in Wyndham as of 12pm today.

There are presently 5464 active virus cases among the municipality’s residents, according to Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

Elsewhere in the state today, the municipality of Casey recorded 1388 new COVID cases, Hume 812 new cases and Brimbank 669 cases.

In Victoria, a total of 17,618 COVID cases have been reported via PCR (a polymerase chain reaction test) in the past 24 hours and 17,190 “probable” cases via RAT (rapid antigen tests) in the past 24 hours.

Sadly, two Victorians have died as a result of the virus in the past 24 hours.

More than 810 people are in hospital with COVID and 69 people are in intensive care.

In Wyndham, there are 483 new coronavirus cases located within the 3029 postcode, 342 new cases in the 3030 postcode, 134 new cases in Williams Landing (postcode 3027), 125 cases in the 3023 postcode and four in Little River (postcode 3211).

Also as of today, 38 cases have been linked to an outbreak at Diamond Valley Pork and Baxters Pork Laverton North.

Sixteen cases have been linked to an outbreak at Werribee Mercy Hospital’s emergency department, and 11 cases to the aged care site at Estia Health Altona Meadows.

Children aged 5 to 11 can now be vaccinated in Victoria. Bookings at GPs and pharmacies are now available. Details: https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/vaccine
