Stockland is preparing to build a new estate for about 1600 homes in Truganina.
The $540 million Grandview estate will be near Greigs Road, the proposed Outer Metropolitan Ring Road and the Ballarat train line.
The 138-hectare site will feature an activity centre, parks, cycling paths, walkways, a proposed 5.5-hectare sports reserve, a proposed state government primary school and a 54-hectare conservation zone.
Grandview will be within about three kilometres of a future town centre and 4.2 kilometres from the Rockbank train station.
Stockland Victoria general manager Mike Davis said Grandview would be built within “one of Australia’s fastest growing residential corridors”.
“This new community will be one of Melbourne’s most accessible and liveable precincts, given the strong focus on infrastructure development in the area, including the duplication of the Melton railway line currently under way and recent completion of Caroline Springs railway station,” Mr Davis said.
“Melbourne’s west is one of the last remaining growth areas in the city, and given its proximity to infrastructure and the CBD, interest across all projects in the region has been high.”
Mr Davis said the new Truganina community would include a range of housing options, including townhouses.
“We look forward to working with authorities on the next steps to bring this new community to life and help more Victorians move into their own new homes,” he said.
During August last year, the state government approved a precinct structure plan which includes building 5000 new homes by Stockland, in the Mt Atkinson estate of Truganina.
According to the 2016 Australian Bureau of Statistics census, Truganina is home to 20,668 people, who live in 6274 houses. In the 2011 census, the area’s population was 9134 residents.
