Sightings of superheroes, dinosaurs and movie characters have been reported across Wyndham.

Several residents have dressed up in creative and colourful costumes while taking their household bins out in recent weeks.

The trend, which was kickstarted by the Australian-based Bin Isolation Outing Facebook group, encourages people to wear funny or formal outfits while taking out the bins.

Queenslander Danielle Askew started the Facebook page as a way to make people smile during the Covid-19 pandemic, and also to have fun while doing everyday chores.

The page went viral and now has more than 987,000 members, from across the world.

Among those who have joined in the fun is Hoppers Crossing man Ashley Tottle, who has taken out the bins while kitted out as characters from the Monsters Inc and Thor films.

He has been joined by daughters Tilly, Phoebe and Abi, who are aged three, seven and nine respectively.

A video of Mr Tottle taking the bins out as Thor – complete with a hammer and blonde wig – attracted more than 70 likes and other reactions on the Bin Isolation Outing Facebook page, earlier this month.

The video features Thor, aka Mr Tottle, being urged to put out the bin, while garbed in his dressing gown and slippers.

Thor proceeds to take out the bins, while talking about recyclng, and exclaims “Arghhhh“ upon finishing the job.
