The owner of two missing dogs holds grave fears for her beloved family pets so she’s offering $5000 for their return.
Storm, a six-year-old kelpie cross, and Max, a seven-year-old shih tzu fox terrier cross, have been missing from their Tarneit home since August 12.
Owner Leanne Noble said she returned from work at night to find her home broken into and the dogs gone.
Nothing was taken from the house but Ms Noble believes her dogs have been targeted for something more sinister.
“With all of the talk of the dog-fighting rings in Werribee, we are very worried for our dogs,” she said.
“Dogs are being stolen all the time to be used as bait dogs in dog fighting rings. This is an issue that’s widely talked about on social media among dog owners and breeders.”
She said the police had refused to list the dogs as stolen because they believed there was a possibility they had escaped through an open door.
“I don’t believe they ran away at all,” Ms Noble said.
“We had an attempted break-in earlier this year and I believe we’ve been watched for a while.
“They’re very placid, loving dogs and we desperately hope … it’s a very daunting and devastating task when you’re faced with finding them on your own.
“We’ve had a lot of well-wishers and kind words but unfortunately no leads yet.”
Ms Noble has posted signs publicising the reward along the Princes Highway and Derrimut Road and has started a Find Storm and Max Facebook page.
