After 30 years, it’s fair to say Danny Marando has left his stamp on Australia Post.
When Mr Marando started working at the Highpoint post office on December 7, 1987, he didn’t realise he had signed, sealed (and delivered) on his working life for the next three decades.
“I left school without knowing my VCE results, and made Australia Post home – and I’ve been there ever since,” the 48-year-old Hoppers Crossing resident said.
Mr Marando, who is now a postal manager, worked at a number of branches across the west before being deployed in 2001 to Werribee’s Watton Street branch – where he’s been ever since.
He even met his wife, Rosie, through work. Rosie, who also works at the Werribee branch, has notched up 22 years with the company, but as yet their two kids – aged 17 and 20 – hold no ambitions to join the team.
“As a couple, we’ve given in excess of 50 years to the organisation,” Mr Marando said.
“You never expect anything to continue for this long, but this has been a great company to work for. It’s been the place for me.”
An Australia Post spokesperson said Mr Marando was one of 495 Australia Post employees across the country to have reached the 30-year milestone in the past 12 months.
