Microchip blitz purrfect idea to keep pets safe

Does your pooch or feline need to be microchipped? If so, you’re in luck.

Petstock in Hoppers Crossing is having a microchip blitz this weekend and will charge cat, dog and small animal owners only $10 for the service.

A recent Petstock survey found that 85 per cent of respondents were successfully reunited with their lost pet after it was handed into a vet and had its microchip scanned.

Event organiser Christine Robertson said even though microchipping was compulsory in most states, there were still thousands of pets that fell through the cracks. “When those animals that aren’t microchipped get lost, the panic that is felt by their pet parents is devastating,” Ms Robertson said.
