Mental health is among the top long-term health conditions for residents in Wyndham, according to latest census data.
More than 16,000, or 5.7 per cent, of surveyees listed mental health, including depression or anxiety as the type of long-term health condition they reported to have.
The 2021 survey was the first time the census collected relating to long-term health conditions.
Statistician Dr David Gruen said the data will help provide a more detailed picture of health in Australia.
“For the first time, we have data on long-term health conditions across the whole population,” Dr Gruen said.
“This is critical data to inform planning and service delivery decisions about how treatment and care is provided for all Australians.”
Other conditions included asthma, with 19,105 respondents, arthritis (13,314) and diabetes (12,826).
