Working bee creates a buzz at Men’s Shed

Wyndham Vale Men’s Shed is flushed with the success of its first community working bee.

Men’s Shed co-founders Michael Hindle and Kyren Thornwoods and a team of helpers installed planter boxes, painted outdoor furniture and planted out the community garden at Wyndham Vale Community Centre, which they currently call home.

The group plans to add more planter boxes to the mix, and plant vegetables that the community can eat.

Mr Hindle said the group, which has about 14 members, started running two years ago and meets on the second and fourth Friday of each month.

Mr Thornwoods added: “There was nothing here for guys.

“It’s giving men something to look forward to.”

Mr Thornwoods said the group’s next big challenge is to find a site to set up their very own shed.
