Men flee scene of Avalon crash

A stolen vehicle crashed on the Princes Freeway, Avalon in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services were called to the freeway near Avalon Road about 1.30am, after reports of a single vehicle crash.

Witnesses have told police that the white 2019 Honda Civic hatchback was travelling westbound at a high rate of speed before it lost control and collided into a barrier.

The vehicle had been stolen from an address in Highton on May 28, at around 12.50pm.

After the crash on the Princes Freeway, two males were seen exiting the vehicle and fleeing the scene on foot.

The Police Airwing and members of the Dog Squad were deployed but the offenders were unable to be located.

Police are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage or information that could assist investigators with their enquiries to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
