It will be Nightmare on Dalrymple Boulevard this Halloween when the street’s residents pull out all stops in a spooky soiree.
More than 1000 ghoulish visitors are expected to dress up and embrace all things creepy and kooky for the Manor Lakes Halloween Display on October 31 from 5-10pm.
There will be gory displays, treats for trick-or-treaters, face-painting, a pizza food truck, coffee van and a photographer on hand to capture people in their spookiest get-ups.
The event started seven years ago when Canadian-born Andrew Price and his wife Maria moved to Manor Lakes and found themselves trying to one-up their US neighbour Steph and her husband Hadyn with their Halloween decorations.
Other neighbours soon got in on the act and before long, it turned into a monster madness street party.
Since 2016, the group has also used the spookfest as a fundraiser for the Starlight Foundation, and has raised more than $2500. This year they’re hoping to raise more than $2000.
“People have been incredibly generous with their donations,” Mr Price said.
“It’s a labour of love for the organisers, and it’s also a great feeling knowing we are contributing to a good cause.”
