A 46-year-old man has been arrested following a series of alleged burglaries in Manor Lakes on Tuesday.
Police received a report from a security guard of a man allegedly seen running from a building site with his arms full of stolen items at the corner of Ballan and Ison roads about 2.30am on August 29.
The man jumped into a car and drove off, but security were able to provide a registration number to police, who were nearby speaking with another man wanted on a separate matter when they saw the getaway car drive past.
With the man they were speaking to assuring them he would attend his local police station later, police set off in pursuit and located the getaway vehicle in Parker Street, Werribee, a short time later.
They arrested the male driver and allegedly located a balaclava, gloves and head lamp in the vehicle.
It’s alleged he had broken into at least three new townhouses that were nearing completion, but what was actually stolen is still to be determined.
When police arrived back at the station to begin processing the alleged burglar, they were shocked to discover the man wanted on the separate matter had been good to his word and attended the station.
