Man charged following pursuit in Point Cook

Police have charged a man following a pursuit through the Point Cook area on March 11.

Air Wing first observed the man riding a Yamaha motorcycle at an allegedly excessive speed on the Monash Freeway about 12pm.

As the man continued to travel over the Westgate Bridge south towards the Princes Freeway, Air Wing observed the rider allegedly weaving erratically through traffic.

The man was then observed travelling on Sneydes Road towards Point Cook, before continuing along Hacketts Road allegedly above the speed limit.

Air Wing pursued the man to a residential address on Tamworth Grove, where he was arrested by police.

The 19-year-old Point Cook man has been charged with, reckless conduct endangering life, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, drive speed dangerous, drive manner serious, exceed speed-limit where a speed-limit sign applies, driving in breach of permit condition.

The man’s motorcycle was impounded for 30 days and his license was suspended.

He was bailed to appear at the Werribee Magistrates’ Court on September 18.
