Man charged after footy brawl

A man has been charged following a brawl at a Hoppers Crossing football match at the weekend.

Police yesterday charged a 40-year-old Truganina man with affray and two counts of assault.

He has been bailed to appear at the Werribee Magistrates’ Court on February 5.

Police said a spectator allegedly ran onto the Hogans Road oval and assaulted an umpire during the last moments of an under-15 grand final match between Point Cook and Albion on Sunday.
The umpire was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries to his upper body.
