Man arrested in Laverton North incident

A 34-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly reversing a stolen tow truck into a police divisional van in Laverton North early this morning (January 27).

Police say they spotted a tow truck on the side of Boundary Road and established it was stolen just after 3am.

The driver, who police allege was initially asleep at the wheel, attempted to drive away and stop sticks were deployed.

The truck came to a stop about 150 metres away on Boundary Road before reversing into the police divisional van.

The driver, a Sunshine West man, was arrested and taken to hospital where he is under police guard.
